  • Commercial: refurbishment and extension of a 4-storey building to create a 5-storey office
  • Education & sport: delivery of a new cricket pavilion for a live school environment

The Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Quantity Surveyor / Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team, supporting the delivery of traditional build residential projects across London and the Home Counties.

You will take commercial responsibility for one or more live projects, typically ranging from £5m–£20m, playing a key role in managing cost control, procurement strategy, and financial performance from inception through to final account.

This is a hands-on role offering strong autonomy, responsibility, and the opportunity to work closely with operational teams and senior management to ensure successful project delivery.

Roles and responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Managing the full commercial lifecycle of traditional build residential projects from procurement through to final account
  • Preparing and managing tender packages, issuing subcontract enquiries, and assessing returns
  • Producing detailed cost plans, budgets, cashflows, and monthly financial reports
  • Measuring works, valuing subcontractor applications, and preparing payment notices
  • Managing change control processes, including variations and compensation events in line with contract requirements
  • Conducting regular site visits across London and the Home Counties to monitor progress and maintain commercial control
  • Supporting procurement strategy and developing strong relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers
  • Monitoring project expenditure and producing accurate forecasts of final accounts
  • Collaborating closely with Project Managers, Design Teams, and Site Teams to ensure commercial alignment
  • Preparing, negotiating, and agreeing final accounts with both subcontractors and clients
  • Ensuring full compliance with internal procedures, commercial governance, and contractual obligations
  • Supporting or leading junior members of the commercial team (Senior QS level)
